Akinloye Ojo received his Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Georgia, Athens in 2001. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Linguistics and affiliated Faculty, Institute for African American Studies. His research interests include applied linguistics and language pedagogy; Yoruba language and linguistics; Translation; African Indigenous Knowledge; and language, culture and society. He was a recipient of the 2010 PEN America Translation Fund Grant for his translation into English of the poetry of the late Akinwumi Isola. He has over sixty published works in the form of authored books, edited volumes, book chapters, refereed articles, scholarly reports, review essays, and multimedia pedagogical materials. His co-edited work, Ìlò-Èdè àti Èdá Ède Yorùbá (Africa World Press, 2005) was the first of its kind published in North America. He served as the executive editor for the African Language Teachers’ Association (ALTA) from 2004 to 2008 and is a founding member and former Vice President for the American Association of Yoruba Teachers (AATY). He is the host of the weekly African Perspectives radio show on WUGA.
