Born in 1948, Charles Johnson is a renowned novelist, philosopher, literary critic, cartoonist, broadcaster, screenwriter, practicing Buddhist and martial artist. He is also an Emeritus Professor at the University of Washington, where he held the prestigious S. Wilson and Grace M. Pollock Professorship for Excellence in English until his retirement in 2009.
